NLP Skills- Successful Strategies
NLP came out of modeling ( or Copying ) what people who are experts do.
It was this study of successful strategies that made NLP so useful to people

The “founders” of NLP looked at the successful strategies that were being used by both Virginia Satir and Milton Erickson.
(I discuss them briefly in my previous post NLP Skills )
What John Grinder and Richard Bandler looked at was this. They examined what people actually do . By this I mean their body posture, facial expression, tone and volume of voice, the language patterns that were used and every other significant thing that affected performance.
They wrote about this in the first book on NLP which was called “Frogs into Princes”
NLP is the study of success and as nlp trainer Topher Morrison says, ” NLP is the use of language in such a precise manner that getting what you want is inevitable”. Now that’s a pretty tall order and there is a lot more to NLP than language as you understand it.
You see what we do with NLP is we also model what the person was thinking when they “Do” their successful strategy. Now by thinking I’m not just referring to the conscious mind but also the unconscious mind. Your probably starting to go deeper into this now than you’ve ever gone before. And that’s a good thing because it means you can easily learn how to create successful strategies that you can use to really get the life that you want.

What we model when we’re discovering how someone uses a strategy successfully is what do they see, what do they feel physically, what do they hear, and what do they say. We may also ask them what do they smell or taste. ( very useful if you were modeling a great chef, for instance ).
But wait it goes even deeper because we not only check what is going on in their external communication with the world around them; We also check what they are saying, hearing and feeling inside as well.
To go much deeper into this concept at this stage is not very useful for you and so I will curb the urge to let rip at full steam ahead .
Instead what I will do is post at regular intervals and unpack all of the concepts here in just such a way that each post builds on the previous one ( “unpack is an NLP term for taking things apart so that we can understand them fully )
And while I think of it…How useful would it be for you if I were to create a glossary linked to every page in this blog ? That way you will have a resource that easily and clearly explains the terms and you can refer to it when you wish to ?
Please let me know by adding your comment in the box below. I appreciate your input and help in creating this resource.
To your empowering life,
Mike
